Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and MealMotor ("MealMotor", "we", "us") that covers your use of the MealMotor iPhone app, this website, the optional Claude connector, and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Your account
You sign in with Apple or Google. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to agree to these Terms where you live, to use the Service. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms for you. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your Apple or Google account secure. Keep your information accurate, especially your food allergies and dietary restrictions.
2. Food safety, allergens and nutrition
Please read this section carefully.
MealMotor filters and flags recipes using the allergies and restrictions you enter and ingredient information we hold or generate. That information can be incomplete or wrong. MealMotor is not a substitute for reading ingredients and labels yourself. Before you cook or serve a meal, check every ingredient and product label for allergens, and check with each person you are cooking for. This matters most when someone has a severe allergy.
Nutrition figures, calorie estimates, cooking times and serving sizes are estimates for general information only. They are not medical, dietary or nutritional advice. Talk to a qualified professional about medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy or special diets.
Follow safe food-handling practices, including cooking food to safe internal temperatures, avoiding cross-contamination, and storing food properly. Use your own judgment in the kitchen: you are responsible for how you prepare and serve food.
3. AI-generated content
MealMotor uses artificial intelligence, including Anthropic's Claude models, to import and organize recipes, fill in recipe details, suggest ingredient substitutes and combine grocery lists. Some recipes in our catalog were created or edited with AI help. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or inappropriate. For example, an imported recipe could have a wrong quantity, a missing ingredient or a wrong step, and a suggested substitute might contain an allergen. Review AI-generated content before you rely on it. Section 2 applies to all of it.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Some features need a paid subscription (such as MealMotor Plus), which you buy through Apple's App Store:
- Billing. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may vary by country.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple ID account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Free trials. If a free trial is offered, it becomes a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your iPhone's Settings (tap your name, then Subscriptions) or from Manage Subscriptions in the app. Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Refunds. Apple handles all payments and refunds under its own policies. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it with Apple.
- Price changes. We may change subscription prices. Apple will notify you in advance as its rules require.
5. Apple's standard terms
If you got the app from Apple's App Store, your license to use it is also governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). If the Standard EULA conflicts with these Terms, the Standard EULA controls for the app itself. As the Standard EULA explains:
- these Terms are between you and MealMotor, not Apple,
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app,
- Apple is not responsible for claims about the app, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims,
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
6. Your content
"Your content" means the recipes, photos, notes, plans and lists you add to the Service. You keep ownership of it. You give MealMotor a limited license to store, process, copy, adapt and display it only to operate and improve the Service for you and your household. That includes sending it to our service providers, such as our AI provider, as described in the Privacy Policy. This license ends when your content is deleted, except for copies in backups that expire on their normal schedule.
You confirm that you have the right to use your content. When you import a recipe from a website or a book, it's for your own personal, non-commercial use. Respect the rights of the people who created it.
7. Households
A household shares one meal plan and grocery list. Anyone you invite can see and change the shared plan and list, and can see the names and email addresses of the other members. The household owner can remove members. If the owner deletes their account, the household and its shared plans and lists are deleted for everyone. Only invite people you trust.
8. The Claude connector
If you connect MealMotor to Claude, Claude can read and change your MealMotor data within the access you approved. You are responsible for the changes Claude makes at your request. Your use of Claude is governed by Anthropic's terms, not ours. You can disconnect at any time.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break any law or anyone else's rights, including intellectual property and privacy rights,
- upload content that is unlawful, harmful, harassing or infringing, or that contains malware,
- use the Service to send spam or unwanted household invitations,
- scrape, crawl or bulk-download the recipe catalog, or copy or redistribute the catalog or the Service,
- probe, attack, overload or disrupt the Service, or get around its security, usage limits or subscription checks,
- reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it,
- resell the Service or use it commercially without our written permission,
- use the Service, or the Claude connector, in a way that places an unreasonable load on our systems.
10. Our content and the Service
The Service, including the recipe catalog, images, software, design and the MealMotor name, belongs to MealMotor and its licensors and is protected by law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own household's non-commercial meal planning, subject to these Terms.
We may change, add or remove features. We may also suspend or stop the Service, in whole or in part. If we stop the Service entirely, we will try to give reasonable notice.
11. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in the app (Profile, then Delete Account). We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if we must do so by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Where reasonable, we'll tell you first. Sections 2, 3, 6 (for content already processed), 10 and 12 through 15 survive termination.
12. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT RECIPES, ALLERGEN INFORMATION, NUTRITION INFORMATION OR AI-GENERATED CONTENT ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE OR SAFE FOR ANY PARTICULAR PERSON, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, MEALMOTOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE AND (B) US $50. Some places do not allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence where that law applies.
14. Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and indemnify MealMotor against claims, losses and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from your content, your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.
15. Governing law and disputes

Any dispute will be resolved in the courts located in [COUNTY, STATE], unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring claims in your local courts. Before filing a claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve it informally.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the effective date above. For material changes, we'll also give notice in the app or by other appropriate means before the changes take effect. If you keep using the Service after changes take effect, you accept them.
17. General
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and, where it applies, Apple's Standard EULA, are the entire agreement between you and MealMotor about the Service. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a right, we have not waived it. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
